Progress in production technologies of battery grade cobalt sulfate

Abstract:

The main technological processes for producing battery grade cobalt sulfate from seven kinds of cobalt-containing raw materials were reviewed.The preparation technologies of cobalt sulfate for battery use varied with different raw materials.According to the characteristics of cobalt containing raw materials,cobalt containing materials were subdivided into seven kinds:cobalt-containing oxide ore,cobalt-containing sulfide ore,cobalt residue of byproduct,cobalt-containing alloyed scrap,cobalt-containing dead catalyst,cobalt-containing intermediately materials,and cobalt-containing waste batteries.In this pa-per,the processes of producing cobalt sulfide by various cobalt materials were reviewed with cobalt containing raw materials as the starting point.The progress in the processes of leaching and refining in production was introduced and summarized in detail,and the development direction of the production process of battery grade cobalt sulfate was also prospected.
