Crystallization kinetics of cooling sodium sulfate decahydrate

Abstract: Cooling crystallization kinetics of sodium sulfate decahydrate was investigated in a continuous mixed suspension-mixed product-removal (MSMPR) crystallizer.Based on the theory of population balance,crystal nucleation and growth rate equations were determined by nonlinear regression method and experimental data.Results showed that growth rate of product crystal was size-dependent and experimental data conformed to MJ-2 model, namely,G(L)=3.96×10-4exp(-2.20×104/RT)ΔC0.13\[1-exp(-1.53×104L)\].
