Abstract: The extraction rates of sodium and iron from red mud of Bayer process by H2SO4,CH3COOH,and H2C2O4 were mainly discussed and analyzed comparatively. The results showed effect of H2SO4 on extraction rates of Na and Fe was dramatic. Na extraction rate was raised by increasing H2SO4 concentration and was 99.99% under the conditions of 20 ℃,1.8 mol/L H2SO4,and 30 min reaction time.Fe extraction rate, increase of which was induced by H2SO4 concentration and temperature, was 67.93 % at 2.8 mol/L H2SO4,50 ℃,and 45 min reaction time. The kinetics processes of Na and Fe extraction by H2SO4 followed the internal diffusion?鄄controlled mode and the apparent activation energy of Fe extraction was determined to be 37.50 kJ/mol.Crystalline minerals after Na extraction were mainly CaSO4·2H2O,Fe2O3,Al(OH)3,and TiO2.Crystalline minerals after Fe extraction were CaSO4·2H2O and TiO2.
