Abstract: A new method for producing highly active magnesium oxide by the carbonization of magnesite in rotor-stator reactor (RSR) was discussed.Effects of pyrolysis temperature, pyrolysis time, calcination temperature, and calcination time on the activity of magnesium oxide product were investigated.Experiments showed that the RSR effectively increased the gas-liquid contact area, and improved the gas-liquid transfer efficiency. Its special structure could also deal with the slurry with higher solid content to help increase production capacity.Adjusting the pyrolysis temperature could control crystal morphology of basic magnesium carbonate precursor, thereby affected the activity of the product.Calcination temperature had a great impact on product activity.
