Abstract: Excessive fluoride in drinking water can cause harm to human body.It is necessary to develop low-cost and high efficiency fluoride removal material for drinking water safety. The La(Ⅲ)-loaded foam glass composite was prepared by dip- molding method with foam glass as a carrier. The composition, surface morphology, dissolution rate of lanthanum, and the effect of fluoride removal of the composite material were characterized. Results showed that the best load was 7%(mass frac- tion) lanthanum oxide. The fluoride content of 600 mL waste water could be decreased from 32 mg/L down to 1 mg/L below via 100 g La(Ⅲ)-loaded foam glass composite, which reached the standard for drinking water. After fluoride removal, composite material can be regenerated by the oxalic acid solution treatment and pyrolysis at 600 ℃.
