Abstract: ZrO2 fibers stabilized by Y2O3 as functional additives were adoped into nano-sized SiO2 composite insulation materials to improve the compressive strength and reduce the linear shrinkage at high temperatures. The effects of the mass ratio of ZrO2 fibers on linear shrinkage at different calcination temperatures were investigated. And the effect of ZrO2 fibers on compressive strength was also analyzed. The mechanisms of increasing strength and shrinkage restraint were illuminated by the kinetics of solid sintering and characteristic methods of SEM and so on. Results showed that the linear shrinkage of the insulation materials was high at the high calcination temperature. The additive of ZrO2 fibers could significantly reduce the linear shrinkage. When the mass ratio of addition amount was 6%(mass fraction),the linear shrinkage decreased from 13.3% to 2.6% at 1 000 ℃.The compressive strength of the insulation materials increased at first and then decreased with the increasing amount of ZrO2 fibers.
